Jannik Sinner, the reigning Wimbledon champion, continued his title defense with a hard-fought win against Nuno Borges in the second round. This victory followed a demanding five-set match against Miomir Kecmanovic earlier in the week, indicating a challenging start to his campaign.

"I need to get back to the rhythm, but if you look at the scoreboard it was very close and matches like these help me a lot," Sinner stated. "There are obviously a couple of things to improve, but I'm very happy."

Despite Borges' efforts, Sinner maintained control, not facing any break points and ultimately winning the tie-break. In the second set, Borges managed to secure an early break. The Italian recovered from a shaky start in the third set to close out the match.
1987 Wimbledon champion Pat Cash remarked on BBC Radio 5 Live, "When you look at the end result then that is pretty good, especially considering the way Borges played in the first two sets. He could've easily lost either of those sets." He added, "It isn't all flowing yet for Sinner, but it doesn't necessarily need to be. If he can get his forehands ticking at 95% then that would be good."
