The lawsuit specifically names a former Apple senior system electrical engineer and a former vice president of product design for iPhone and Apple Watch, alongside the OpenAI Foundation, OpenAI Group PBC, and io Products. According to Apple's filing, the core of the dispute revolves around its former employees allegedly pilfering Apple's proprietary information for the direct advantage of OpenAI. Regarding the second defendant, Apple asserts that this individual emailed themselves information concerning Apple suppliers and internal industry summaries prior to their departure from the company. The 41-page complaint from Apple contends that at various organizational levels, from technical staff members to the Chief Hardware Officer, and in collaboration with business partners, OpenAI has been actively acquiring Apple's trade secrets and confidential data.
